It happened to me when I removed the steering wheel to fix the horn. I didn't know how to reset then. I had to take it to dealer to reset it cost me $110. If you have Haynes manual you will find it there.
CODE READING AND ERASING
Open the hood, find diagnostic boxes behind right headlamp. Remove both covers, plug the black lead into socket B-5. Turn on ignition to run position, do not start the car, press the button on diagnostic box once for 2-3 sec. and release. Wait for led to flash fault code. In this case, 221, 222 or ???. The light will flash twice, pause a few seconds, flash once, pause, flash twice (221). After reading it, press again to check for more codes. Get a piece of papaer and pen to write the codes down. Make sure to read and write down all codes at that perticular pin. Note that the fault codes cannot be deleted until all of them have been displayed at least once and the very first fauld code is displayed again. Once you have read the 1st code twice, you can erase codes. After it displays the first fault code again (for example 221, 222, 223, 224, 221), press and hold the button for about 7 seconds, release, wait for led to light, press and hold again for 7 seconds then release. Code should be erased and light reset. If you mess up start the procedure all over again. By the way, use same procedure to read/erase codes in all systems socket A-1,auto trans. A-2,fuel inj.A-3=ABS. A-6=ign system A-7=inst.panel. B-1=climate control. B-2= cruise control. B-5= SRS. B6= power seat. Good Luck........
