850R Cracked Rim 850 1996

Today a mysterious air leakage problem in my front tire is finally solved. The tire shop discovered a hairline crack along the inside wall of the rim. Although there's no visible dents, the hairline crack is about half an inch long. The car has just logged 50K miles.

Does anyone know whether this is repairable? I've heard of a good wheel shop in PA. What is their website?

I'm using my 5th wheel (full size spare) and retiring the cracked wheel as the spare for now.

Thanks for all the recommendations, I will let you know whether my cracked rim is repairable once it visits the shop.

If you are around DC. GO to Ye Ole Wheel and TIre. I know the name will throw you. It is around Annapolis. They refinished my 17 for 125. I had a crack that caused air to leak as well. You can stick a spare on the car drive the bad wheel to them and about 2-3 days later. Pick it up.

There is a place that I've used this side of Baltimore called "Ye Olde Wheel Shop" - I know, corny name. They did a pretty nice job for me with my bent 740 wheels. I gave those receipts to the fellow that I sold the car to so I can't come up with the phone number, but I believe I found them via a web search.

I've never used Wheel Collision Center, but I assume this is the place in PA you were talking about.

If you do use their services please let us know about you experience. As a side note they do sell “repaired” Volvo wheels in many styles.

    Good luck

I have used Wheel Collision several and was very pleased with the results. They refinished a set of 240 Turbo wheels for a show car and the results were perfect. I also had a couple of wheels from my rally car straightened after an event. Just as straight but no refinishing. Price was half. They will also tell you if a wheel is not fixable (one of mine wasn't). Not cheap but great work.

      Ditto... 850 1996

...regarding Wheel Collision Center, in Bath, PA. A crack should be childs play for them. They repaired what they call a "divot" a curb took out of one of my wheels. You can not see where they repaired it.
