Purchased an Amsoil Air Filter (S1763) for my 93 850. Unfortunately it does not have a nice molded frame. Its got a foam frame and I doesn't seem to fit the air filter box. The foam protrudes from the box. Can anyone help ?

I have the TS-118 as well in a 97 854 GLT. It is a bit snug. But, I found by adding a slight bend in the wire screen - lenghtwise, I was able to have the fliter seat and close the air box. I would rather have a filter that is a bit snug - rather than one that was loose around the edges.

Just remember to get all the excess oil out of the foam prior to install to prevent damage to the MAF. I place the filter on some newspapers/papertowels. Then some more newspapers/papertowels on top. Then stand on the filter to squeeze out the excess.

You got turned onto the wrong part number. I believe there is an error in an old application guide.

You need TS118. I run that in my 1996 850, it fits inside the airbox, metal mesh side up.

Called Amsoil tech support. They insist the S1763 is correct for an 93 850. Tried again to get it to fit. No way can I snap the air box clamps. I think these filters suck. Why should anyone struggle putting in an air filter ? I want my money back. I'll go back to stock or maybe try K&N.

They are being stupid desk jockeys. Lazy ass desk jockeys. Tell them to refer to a letter written by Darryn Wallace (Tech. Services) to Paul Seminara (Dealer 515729) on May 30, 2000.

This letter says that the Volvo part # 9186262 and Mann part # C35148 air filters (for 850's) are the equivalent of Amsoil TS118. (NOT S1763!)

You are right, it should not be a struggle. Just tell them to send the TS118 NOW at no additional cost to you!! (Please don't blame the product - mine is pushing 50,000 miles in that car (1996 855) with zero problems, and both my other cars as well)
