are they any good. i was told these calipers are original ATE caliper bodies, just mefurbed by A-1 Cardone

They're as good as how much the place you buy them will stand behind them.

Rebuilding a caliper isn't difficult; there's often not much to it. So, if they say they're rebuilt, then they're probably fine.

For me, I have a local jobber shop through which I source most parts like that, and they take care of all the issues with their rebuilts right there as long as they come from the one rebuild place that they deal with mostly (Mid Illinois Caliper, fyi). If there's a problem with a caliper, my shop is able to deal with it right there, for the most part, because of the relationship they have with MIC.

So, I'd look around for a shop that's going to treat you well and stand behind what they sell and, most importantly, will take back what you've bought if you're not happy with the quality on delivery.
