Rumbling brakes V70-XC70

When we put new pads on the rear, we had a local brake shop put on lifetime pads. Now they are squealing and occasionally when we come to a slow stop it feels like the car is going over a rumble strip. The vibration stops immediately when we get off the brakes. Have a suspicion that maybe the pads are too hard and the ABS is getting tweaked. Any suggestions?

you probably have warped rotors.....mine did the same thing. They are easy to change yourself.

Squealing is a very frequent sign of non-Volvo pads. Not only that, but since they are (usually) harder they do etch the rotors a lot quicker...

    Stick with OEM parts.

My V70 did the same exact thing ... turned out to be the rear rotors were warped. Dealer replaced them the first time under warranty at 30K ... and the problem went away. Unfortunately, they are beginning to do the same thing again at 47K miles.

I had a similar problem when I replaced original front pads at 35k miles with PBR low dust pads. I wasn't able to get the rotors off for turning, so I just replaced the pads. I went through the recommended 10 stop low speed break-in, but it really took about 5k-7k miles to "wear in." Everything is fine at 56k miles and I don't have the nuisance brake dust from the OEM pads.
