Anyone find a solution for 'chirping' windshield/dash? V70-XC70 1998

Particularly when it is warm outside, the joint between the windshield and the dash squeaks. I've tried spraying silicone spray, I've tried stuffing all kinds of foam in the joint, but nothing seems to be working. Anyone had success in this?

    Anyone find a solution for 'chirping' windshield/dash? V70-XC70 1998

    Speaking of chirps...
It seems to me that someone posted a cure before for a chirp in the backseat. Mine has done it for sometime and I gotta fix it. I think it's the passenger side and (I think) it doesn't semm to chirp as badly with someone in the seat.
You guys/gals know what I'm talking about?

    Thanks,

    Paul G

had a squeek on my 98 that was somewhat unique (as far as i can tell)
but you might check this if it is a very high pitched squeek:

Just to the inside of both A pillers, site down behind the dash and
see if there is a thin piece of plastic about 3 inches wide portruding
from the dash and barely touching the glass. It looks like it might
be used to align parts in assembly. In any case, the plastic was just
touching the glass and the plastic would resonate with a very high
pitched sound. I cut it out using a razer blade held with a long
medical clamp (don't know the name of those devices).

Plastic was on both sides. This removed the main squeek in my car
(although 40K miles later I do have some rattles behind the glove
box now and one behind the radio).

The build date on my 98 is January 1997 (yes 97) and is on the door
(in case you want to check). If you have the plastic parts they are
    obvious and easy to see.

      It's more like a 'chirp' than a squeak V70-XC70 1998

Mine 'chirps' frequently - not all the time, but when it's hot and the car is standing still while running. I'm trying to think of where you are referring, with that plastic protruding from the dash, and I can't picture it, but since you mention 'high pitched' squeaking, it might be the same 'chirping' that I hear. I don't recall this piece of plastic as I was jamming foam into the seam between dash and windshield over the past 3 months, so I wonder if it is there. I might check again today...

Send me an email at rniblett@pacbell.net and I'll send a couple
photos that make it clear. I doubt this is your problem but the
squeeks can drive you nuts so its worth a shot to look.

    This may work.

I had to re-torque the four main bolts holding the dash to the firewall. You have to remove the cowl under the hood. But, after that it's pretty easy.

Also, make sure that the two screw attachment points securing the middle dash bottom (located under the console) are not broken. This has occured when the screws are overtorqued. They should be @7-10 foot lbs.

    So, far this has worked.
