30 k service coming up, help please S40-V40

I've got a 01 S40 at 28K miles --what should I pay to have this service done at a dealer?, I have a local mechanic and I'm thinking about having him do it if the dealer is too much.
thanks JL

Prices vary widely by region (the 30K service is
$479 in Silicon Valley where labor is very expensive).

A local mechanic can do it. As long as you keep records then
there should not be any future warranty issues.

Advantage of a dealer is you can get warranty work at the same
time, they keep records for you, the techs know common problem
areas well and often pro-actively check these things out, loaner
cars provided, and they run a recall check and will apply any
recalls as needed. (Above from a good dealer, of course.) A
good independent can probably provide all of those services
except the warranty work, too.

I suggest that you buy all parts that are going to be replaced with this serive (30k) and bring the parts with you when the car gets service. I go to www.volvocare.com.

I did this paid around $90.00 for all my parts and instead of paying $375.00-$450.00 for the service. I paid about $120.00 when I picked up my car. Looks to saved me around $225.00. Just do your research,

Bret
