'97 850 service interval ?? 850

I recently purchased a '97 850 GLT with 144,000kms.It runs, drives and looks great however the previous owner did not have all the service records,he did give me the service maintenance record book but it was missing the dealer stamp on the following services :8000km,32000,40000,56000,64000,72000,104000,112000,120000,128000 and 136000km .Like I said the car runs great, that and the fact that I can do alot of the repairs myself is the reason that I overlooked the lack of proof of service when I purchased the car, plus I did pay over $7000.00 less than the Canadian Red Book average *wholesale* price.I just changed the timing belt, replaced the brakes and brake fluid and changed the transmission fluid which was pretty brown,I noticed that the magnetic trans. plug had a very small amount of metal filings. Is this normal or should I be worried?.Another thing that I found is that when I was changing the timing belt I noticed that the crank pulley had what I think is exsessive endplay (Im guessing about 1mm. of endplay) just by looking at it,Is this common?I dont keep my cars very long, maybe a year or 2. Is this one a keeper or should I unload it ASAP ?I would love to keep it for a while but if its going to cost me tons of money then its going!
Im switching to synthetic oil soon ,does any one recommend the use of engine and trans. anti-friction additives?if so what brands?PLEASE HELP WITH ANY COMMENTS/SUGGESTIONS THANKS..

I am surprised that you didn't check all of this out with a mechanic before purchasing the car? Have you had a mechanic look at it?

I probably should have had it checked by a mechanic youre right, but I guess I got pressured by the fact that as I was returning from my first test drive there were already 2 other couples wanting to buy the car.Like I said I did pay $7000 less than wholesale and the car does run and drive great, the body is accident free and it was a one owner car,he did assure me that the oil changes were on schedule and most of the other repairs were done at shops other than Volvo and thats why his service book didnt have the stamps..??

That is one thing that I have always found--if I want to buy something and there happen to be buyers in line, but I find I am being hurried to make a purchase decision, there are two choices I can make: 1. Since you have the item in your possession, the other people can wait for as long as it takes for you to decide. 2. Give the thing back to the seller and walk away.

I got screwed several times by not walking away. I take my time now.
