Liftgate shocks replacement 850 1994

The liftgate shocks on this wagon are going - and got much worse as it got colder. Before I start pulling on the trim plastic on the interior to see how to get to the inside mounting points, can anyone direct me to a procedure for pulling and replacing these? I've seen several references for sedan trunk shock replacement but haven't found any for the wagon.

Thanks

I did this on my 96 not long ago. You have to remove the top rear panel (where the light is, 2 torx screws) to remove the two side panels, which have a torx screws in each of them.

once the panels are off you will see where the struts attach on both sides.
Prop the door up with a 2x4 or similar, and pry off the old struts, and replace them.

One of my sides popped off on its own, I guess it wasn't on quite right, so I had to repeat the job, but it's really quite simple.
