Cooling fan 850

It seems that the cooling fan or something that sounds like it might be that kept going on and off last night even though it was very cold where I live. When I went to start the car this morning it seemed that the battery was worn down. The car did start and after being operated for twenty minutes the car was turned off. The fan has not seemed to go on for the past three hours. Does anyone have any idea what happened?

Fan relay located above the fan itself is sticking. It's the large double relay, replace it.
