Aligned and still pulls right 850 1994

After having the full four-wheel alignment, wheel balance, etc., I still have a pull to the right... I'm pretty sure one/both front struts are bad... could that contribute? The car has 102k miles at the moment... I don't want to go back to the alignment place without a little more knowledge...

Thanks,

Shawn

If it's not tires as KOJACK has noted, then another possibilty is a sticking brake caliper. If that's it, they usually stick when they're hot, after a bit of driving and it'll be obvious if all wheels are free spinning on a hoist. A brake rotor where a caliper's sticking will also be discolored, bluish.

I know the brakes need replacing, so maybe a little t.l.c. is in order. I've changed brakes/rotors before but I wouldn't claim to know enough to recognize that type of problem... Thanks, I'll look for that also..

I'll also post results for all to see... maybe it'll help someone else.

    Shawn,

I have the same issue with my 850. It is perfectly alligned, and yet pulls. The wheels are balanced as well.. This is what is going on (in my case). After having the wheels aligned and balanced, the car still pulled left. What we did was switch tires (i.e. left on right and vice versa). The car magically began pulling to the right. What we found is that although all the wheels were balanced, meaning no heavy spots, one was just a bit bigger than the other. It is a defect in the tire. When you figure out which one is to blame, put it in the rear and it won't make such a big difference in driving. When I had it in the front it pulled a lot more than the same tire in the rear.

Try rotating the tires lft -> rt. Tell me if this is it.

Thanks, I'll try it, but are you saying rims and tires, or have tires remounted?

I thought the wheels were "side-specific." I have the "turbo" rims.

      Thanks,

      Shawn

        Shawn,
I forgot about those turbo rims....

The angled spokes are unidirectional. I don't think that they are "structurally" unidirectional, but twisted that way for aesthetic purposes only. If that's the case, then switch them for a day and see what happens. It sounds like a pain in the butt, but it's the cheapest diagnosis. I am 98% sure that's what's causing it. But I'm an idiot.

        Good luck.

Nope, your not an idiot... you are, though, very helpful... I just purchased a couple of 3-ton floor jacks($22 at Walmart)... think I'll put them to use...

          Thanks,

          Shawn
