Break dust one side only!!!

I noticed this morning on my 2001 S60 11K miles, breake dust on one side only. This is on the driver's side both front and rear wheel. Nothing on the passenger side, both fron and rear. It is very noticeable.

There is no pull to any side when applaying breaks. Break pads still with a lot of meat.

I drive 95% highway, and on the fast lane, 60 miles a day. This is a new 5 lane highway where the fast lane has a slope to the left of the driver's side. Should this explain the situation???

Should I switch between extreme left lane and extreme right lane (say, morning left lane, afternoon right lane) to balance out and maybe avoid avoid future break problems problems?

Please let me know your opinions.

Did you recently have your tires rotated, or if you have steel rims, your hub caps rotated?

The front tires ALWAYS produce more brake dust, simply because they do more braking. What could have happened is that you have had your tires rotated in such a way as to have the fronts moved to one side of the car.

A few questions and suggestions. Are your wheels symetrical? That is, do they spiral in such a way that stuff might blow off them if they rotate one direction and not the other? Do your neighbors have a lot of dogs? Do you park next to a lawn sprinkler? Are you in the lower latitudes where the faster rotation of the earth might cause a prevailing magnetic effect?

My dealer rotates the tires every 7.5K miles. Read the manual, it is a factory recomendation. Should have been free the first time...

      Sin,

The tires have not been rotated yet. It's been in service only once at 7.5K miles, and tires were not rotated then.

The dust on the driver's side both fron and rear is I would say 5 times more than on the passenger's side both front and rear.

      It is very strange...
