Advice on 850 Purchase 850 1996

I am new to Volvo's and need some advice. I am looking at a 1996 850 Turbo Wagon with 87,000 miles. Everything seems to be in good shape...the car is in excellent visual condition, i.e. paint interior, etc. I am going to have it checked mechanically on Monday. Is this too many miles for a 96? Any major things I need to watch out for? Thanks for any advice.

See if the sched maint has been done. If it doesn't have a pollen filter, have one added. It will save a $1,700 AC repair later. Gen cond good? Look deeper and buy! I just bought a 97 850 GLT with 79k. I knew the car before. A Maint freak owned it. Guess who bout it? I'll put about $500 in it and it will be perfect (my way sort of thing).

Turbo is a great car no problem with the turbo itself...

but do have the shop check for the "Rear main seal leak " this is a $1400 job and not cheap around 70,000 or so many 850 seal need to be replace seem like a defecte on the design...

Have the air condition sysetem check see if any leak they all know for this $1500 to replace...

said and done we love our 1994 850 turbo now 120,500 on run strong....

well come to the volvo club.. with this board support you can do many repair work yourself ....

also go to www.volvospeed.com Bay 13 it will teach you how to repair your 850 detail with picture for free...

good ...

It's not even broken in yet... I wouldn't worry too much. You probably want to get the service records. If they're not available you can usually call the dealership where it was serviced and they can give you the history they have. The only thing I'd look for at that mileage is the timing belt due every 70kmi... at 87kmi it is probably getting ready to break which would be expensive.

Another thing you could do if concerned is to take it to your volvo dealer and have them do the volvo certified check over.

1994 855, 5spd, 195kmi
