spark plug wires- - - -Nology Anyone used these on 850? 850

i was reading about a spark plug wire called Nology and Nopi.com sells them for just a little under $200. i was wondering if anyone has used these and any questions or comments. i hear they are better than mecogner wires. these nology wires have a ground wire on each wire that you ground out on like a manifold or something and they are supposed to spark better. let me know if anyone has any info.

I would stay away from them. They cause all kinds of RFI noise.

check the archives about 3 months ago ballpark I posted a link to a site that tested aftermarket wires (it was on Hondas) and on of 'em was the nogoly "hot wires"

the guy had a dyno and did tests with bunches of stuff.

the OEM honda wires beat almost everything he put on the car on the dyno, and it included the nogoly ones.

I'd go with OEM, (bougicord) Bosch, or the aftermarket ones that IPD sells.

most "performance" wires aren't as good as OEM

Reference NOLOGY Hotwires----looks like you have got hold of the wrong end of the stick, so to speak! Hotwires contain a unique flexible capacitor material. Basically what happens is the HT is stored 'till the plug reaches point of ionisation, then dumps the whole charge across the plug gap in a VERY short time. Most electronic ignition makers have gone for an extended spark time, but NOLOGY have gone entirely the other way. If you can precisely time the actual fuel explosion then you will not need anything like as much ignition advance as normal. This means being ableto lean off mixtures,use lower grade fuel etc.As an example, at high revs,(5-6000rpm) on a conventional ignition setup the crankshaft rotates about a quarter of a turn between the spark commencing and finishing. Somewhere during that quarter turn the fuel goes bang! Accurate isn't it! The Hotwire system does the same thing but dumps the same energy spark in a much shorter time (2-3 degrees of crank rotation). Draw your own conclusions. In order to compare plug leads you cannot make a simple exchange, like for like. Timing and mixture must also be played with--- not easy on modern electronically controlled engines. Buy the Hotwires by all means, but then go to a good rolling road for a good experimental session. Find a guy of advanced years who can tune by intuition--worth his weight in gold! Yes they are expensive as PLUGLEADS, (try NGK blue leads if you can find them),but the nology gear prices out much the same as any other after-market ignition kit. The real high performance people like them, but thats a different ball game. Point to note-- the more efficient the original engine, the less noticeable the improvement. If you want to make your Volvo 240 shift like a T5, then Nology Hotwires may be a good starting point! May be mainly about minis, but hell, engine tuning is engine tuning, nowadays more about laptops than care and skill. Guess I'm a luddite!
