Tree sap speckled all over car!! What is something good to clean with? 850

Last night i parked under a flowering tree not thinking about the weather being warm and sap flowing. i live in south carolina so it stayed warm all day and most of the night. i have little specks of sap from something like a burch tree or something like that and i need to know something i can use to take it off of my molding, windows, and paint. i don't want anything that will hurt my paint of clear coat. if it means waxing the whole car again, then i don't mind doing that but if anyone has any suggestions or experience with removing tree sap then please let me know. thanks. jonathan

Years ago I found accidentally that all it needs is water and time, like overnight. Is it going to rain overnight soon? If so just leave it outside then wipe it off in the morning before it can dry. In fact what did it for me was just a heavy dew.

Good luck.

You could try some heated dihydrogen monoxide.

That would work too, but be careful with it. People have died from injesting it via the lungs. It can also cause severe burns if hot enough. Personally I like to swim in the stuff, but maybe that's just me....

You are brave indeed. I limit my exposure to that stuff.

The claybar that someone else suggested would work, but is very time consuming, and expensive to use on a regular basis. Not only that, but you must be very careful when using it, if an abrasive (like dirt) gets caught in the clay, you risk rubbing scratches into your paint. Used correctly though, it's perfectly safe.

I have to deal with tree sap constantly on my cars, and I use Eimann Fabrik Power Wash +. It's cheap, and strong, yet will not strip your wax. The problem is that it's mail order. But it will deal with sap, I know from experience. Here's a link...

How about some "Clay Magic" for $10 at Auto Zone? I bought some but haven't tried it yet but I have heard alot about rubbing this clay bar over the finish while spraying some lubricant that comes with it. It is supposed to prep the paint befoe waxing and remove any oxidation and other undesirables.

I use diesel and a cotton ball on my car. Just wash it off and wax that spot when you are done.
