Z-Max Oil/Fuel/Tranny Additive 850

Any of you guys ever tried the As-Seen-On-TV Z-Max Oil/Fuel/Tranny Additive?
Is it just a placebo that leaves a whole in your pocket and/or engine?
Or is it real?
Thanks.

That stuff is mineral oil with color added. They just had a major lawsuit filed here in California. Mineral oil costs about $3.00 a gallon so figure out the mark up. I have heard good things about a product named Lucas which is big out here with tranny and oil additives. I just stick with normal synthetic for both the engine oil and tranny fluid. No problems so far. I wouldn't use that stuff and I wouldn't recommend it either. Good Luck- Regards- Arturo

Hole in pocket. Generally speaking, additives are a total waste of money. Quality oil and fluids contain everything your vehicle needs. About the only additive that is worth a darn and one that is generally accepted by mechanics and endorsed by some auto manufactures, are the transmission products made by International Lubricants, Inc. under the brand name of Lubegard. They can be purchased at NAPA and CarQuest. The stuff is supposed to be awesome for your automatic.
