Aircon Oil 850 1994

How difficult/easy is it to give the aircon system a shot of oil? Any tips or advice? Thanks.

Go to Wal Mart and get the R134 Hose Kit 9.95 and a 2oz. can of R134 Compatible oil. It will take you about 5 minutes to add it. The oil if not available at wal mart (2 oz. size) can be bought at the auto supply. my wal mart does not carry the 2oz oil charge just freon w/oil.

Hi-lo has it for under 5.00

Or better yet, you can get a 2oz. oil charge at Auto supply that needs no hose it fits on the low pressure fitting of your AC and uses a wrench to screw down and squeeze the oil into your system.

But if you plan on adding Freon ever then you should get the hose for $9.95.
I just recharged my system on Saturday. I had to replace the Condensor in front of the radiator/intercoooler. I used the Wal mart stuff. One 14oz.can of freon with 2 oz.oil and o-ring conditioner 9.95, and two cans of plain freon $4.64 each. The cans come in 12oz. sizes and the system is rated by the Pound-16oz. so you have to either uses a guage or estimate the last 1/2 can of freon. cost me under 20.00 for the chemicles, and it is very cold now.

I also used an aftermarket Condensor cost me 139.00 and volvo part is about 300.00

Good Luck!

It's best done using the same injector that techs use to install dye. Unless you had a hose blow, there's no need to add oil only as it doesn't go anywhere.

A 2 ounce charge will not hurt the compressor, and yes oil does Wear out over time. just like in your engine.
