I recently installed the IPD "Power Pack" which consists of dual exhaust, ipd motronic computer, torque bushing, and K&N air filter. The hp was increased from 236 to 290. Then my mechanic adjusted the turbo waste gate, increased boost to around 20psi. I am not sure of exact hp figures, but we estimate over 300, and have certainly noticed a big differance! Anyone else tried this?

Total cost of parts: $1425
Install/Tune labor: $ 120

You are seriously playing with fire by messing with the waste gate in conjunction with the ECU upgrade. This is the one way to destroy your engine with the ECU upgrade. Above 300hp you are at the limits of the connecting rods and with the a waste gate tweak your car will run too lean. Not a great combination. I believe that IPD has one case of a customer losing an engine by doing this sort of thing (and that may even have been w/out the ECU upgrade)

You need to familiarize yourself with the engine specs before discussing engine limits etc. Also did realize that the new S-60 AWD is coming out with the 300 hp, using the same engine?

I have a 98 V 70R with the same upgrades that you speak of. I live in Portland, Or. near the IPD headquarters. About a year ago or so they installed the dual exhaust and ecu as well as adjusting the wastegate for me, using an accurate remote type boost guage. I recently adjusted the wastegate 2 more turns myself and felt a little nervous about it, so I spoke with a tech at IPD and he said that as long as it's not throwing any codes I should be fine.

98 Saffron V70R, IPD ecu, IPD dual exhaust, wastegate adjusment, IPD lowering springs, IPD wing, 18" mille miglia wheels, K&N filter, full synthetics.

I've recently got the mod bug again, but I couldn't get the IPD web site to come up on my computer. Did they change it? Could you help me track them down?

I wanted to see what options for suspension and chip I had from them.

I'm sitting in a 2000 'R.'

I went to an Audi TT get together in my 'R.' I used to have a TT as well, but got rid of it for practicality reasons. I was amazed how well the stock 'R' stuck with the stock 225 roadster (the heaviest model). In the wet twisties it did pretty darn well. :-) Still, I want to get a better suspension and chip. I already have a dual exhaust and don't think I will switch it out for an aftermarket version any time soon.

Thanks in advance!

Here is the IPD web address
http://www.ipdusa.com/

Look under front wheel drive for R parts.

I don't know if they have anything for the 2000 model, but you might want to call them.
Upgrade the ECU, it's a must!

Yeah, the chip is a must. I did it on my Audi TT and loved it.

I went to the Audi TT Club of America's gathering in Asheville last weekend, and a friend of mine won a chip certification from PES Tuning. They have a chip for a Volvo. In all my dealings with them, PES is top notch. My friend was an Audi tech, and doesn't drive a car worth chipping. He's going to sell me his certification, so I'll get it at a discount. This programmer has the leading chip (IMHO) for the Audi TT. I figure he'll have done a good job with the Volvo too (hopefully).

I just had a look under FWD on the IPD web site. Very confusing layout for me. I'll have to give them a call.
