Erratic idle 850 1996

I think the erratic idle and periodic stalling in my 850 is due to a faulty idle air control. The symptoms and info in Haynes lead me in that direction. Before I plunk down any money, how can I test this part. Thanks

    Have you tried cleaning out the throttle body and idle air control valve first?

      Thanks for the suggestion. I have now done this. I will keep driving for a couple of days and see what happens.
