Problem: Alpine S620 6-disc CD Changer 850

Has anyone had a problem with their Volvo installed Alpine S620 CD Changer? Mine just stopped working a couple of months ago. It is trunk mounted and sounded great. But now I can't even get my cartridge ejected from the darn thing. No power at all. Do I have to take this to a Car and Stereo dealer to fix or is this something I could troubleshoot myself? If so, where do I start? I've done a cursory look at the wires in the trunk and nothing seems to be hanging loose back there.

Thanks a bunch.

Had the same problem. My Volvo dealer checked the fuse . New replacement fuse blow out which told me the problem was within the disc player itself. I had to make the decision - have the old unit repaired or purchase a new unit from Volvo . I went to a nationally known home/car audio store and they sell trunk mounted ALPINE/6 disc replacement units for Volvos. I had to purchase an electrical adopter unit which plugs into the rear of the radio unit so the replacement unit works off the radio unit the same as the factory installed CD changer. Most satisfied with the results.

my JVC 6 disk changer had a little hole near the cartridge that you stuck a paper clip into to release the cartirdge just like a CD rom door.

have you looked for this on the Alpine?

You might just have a stuck cd cassett. Slide a credit card in between the bottom of the cassett and the CD player to trip the release latch so you can remove the cassett. If you've lost power slide out the radio and check the connections to make sure they haven't come loose.

check behind the radio- you may have loose connector from the radio to CD

Check if you have power, a blown fuse maybe.
Good luck.
