Radio Input/Adding a cd/mp3 player 850

Hey all. I just bought a 95 850 GLT a few months ago, and now Id like to quasi-upgrade the stereo. Actually, what Id like to do is keep the factory head unit and add a cd player. Here is where the hang up comes. What I REALLY wanted to do is add a mobile cd/dvd/mp3 unit to the system. I had been looking around and know the factory head unit (SC 811) can take a changer from either the factory or from Alpine with the proper adapter. I have pulled the head unit and seen the odd 8 or whatever pin interface that is required for connecting it up.
So now comes the question. Can I add a unit that terminates with stereo rca plugs to the factory unit? What kind of adapter would have to be purchased or rigged up? If anyone has any ideas, Id sure be grateful. Thanks.

    Kippy,
I just made an adapter for my car for an SC811... it costed me about 10 bucks all together... All you need is:

    1) a 6 pin DIN, you can find this at a bunch of different specialty electronics components stores (radio Shack won't have it). $2

    2) 4 female RCA plugs. (to adapt) 6$

    3) 1 12-16 gauge wire from ANY device. (For the signal relay) hopefully free $1

    4) Soldering gun and solder. hopefully free or $5

I will send you the schematics of the 6 pin DIN if you leave an email address. I personally used the adapter to hook up a few amps and aftermarket speakers to the int. of my car. The DIN in the back of the head unit is originally made for the VOLVO amp for the SC811 which is OUTRAGEOUSLY expensive for what it is.

The DIN in the back of the head unit is basically a low-level output. Theoretically, the interior speakers will be disabled once the DIN is hooked up, but in my case this wasn't the case.

    Good luck!!

P.S. Just so you know, this may sound complicated, but I am a complete IDIOT when it comes to electronics. If I could do it, you can do it. I will help you in any way possible.. Just let me know.

Hey man, thanks so much for the response. I really appreciate it. If you could email those schematics to sethdorlan@yahoo.com, that'd be great. One quick question though, will this work the same for both directions? You said that you used yours to output the signal to some amps. I am looking to run a signal in from a cd player. Would I just then plug it into the other port? Thanks again, I really am thankful.
