Tow Hitch Removal V70-XC70

Greetings Volvo types,
I have the factory tow hitch on my 1998 XC. I want to remove it but when I loosened the 17mm bolts underneath the car they get loose and just spin. Are there nuts somewhere ? Anybody have experience ?
Cheers,
TB

Hello Gauteng:
I do not remember it all but you have to start by removing the aluminum rivets in the back of the wheelwell holding the bumper cover. You then remove the bumper cover by pulling it carefully back. There are a couple of plastic hooks towards the front holding it on. With the cover off you can see that the bolts have nuts inside the beams. You can remove them and the whole thing should come off and you can patch up the rest fine.

Regards
