Oil Smell when idling or in slow traffic 850 1994

I have a slight oil smell when the car is in slow traffic or idling.
It is coming through the ventilation system. When I close fresh air vent in center it goes away. No visible leaks at all and no drip marks on garage
floor...Anyone had this ?

I think its the hose that contains the flame trap. This hose tends to fail at both ends by the trottle body and follow the other end because it finishes behind the power steeering pump at the oil trap. Go to volvospeed.com and look at the vacuum leaks section.

I had this exact same problem on my 1993 850.There was no oil dripping, just a bad smell at idle or slow speeds and it came thru the vents.Below is what the bill said
'R&R intake, replace vacuum elbow at breather box and at flame trap filter'
I was billed for a gasket and coupling piece. It cost around $200 total.
The parts cost $17.
I am not a technical guy , I hope this helps

Sounds like a small enough one that gets burned off before it drips. They are harder to find.

Have you pulled off the plastic spark plug cover and checked the rubber breather hose that comes out of the filler neck?

Mine had become rock hard and developed a small crack. There was a mess of oil under the cover.
