Power antenna getting sticky... C70 1999

My power antenna is starting to get stuck after it
hits level one. I have to :

1- Turn off radio so mast goes down.

2- Get out of the car, hit the radio On button then
help the mast get through level one.

It stays loose for a day or so then locks up again.

It seems that the springs or whatever is inside the mast
need a good lubrication. Is it easy to remove the mast on
a c70 and give it a nice lubrication?

I'm afraid if I keep doing what I'm doing the motor will
eventually suffer.

Thanks,

RD

    rd,
Power antennas need periodic cleaning. As instructed in the owners manual, clean with WD40.

        850,

I just went to the 700/900 faq's and it looks like we my
have a cord problem. I quess a nylon cord is what pushes
and retracts the antenna mast. They seem to get caught inside sometimes.

The faq's explain how to dismantle, repair, and reassemble.

        May try later this summer.

I did the WD40 thing externally since 99'. No help!
Tony do you mean to clean the antenna internally or externally?

Antenna now is in trouble as I can only go up one level.

If this turns into a heachache to fix I may live with
the antenna going up one level because the reception seems
to still be good and also it looks pretty unique extending
      only 8" or so.

      We'll keep troubleshooting though!
