a couple of things....1) EBay right now has 1 Haynes and 4 Chiltons up for auction...all running under $10. 2) check out Volvo owners Circle or //new.volvocars.com. they have lots of manuals for different parts. Their electrical circuitry is excellent for about $29. They also for $16 have everything you want to know about your car in Pocket Data Book with all codes, specs, etc.

They are not the cheapest place to get parts but the prices are reasonable for most things, like oil filters. i got it for about $15 US or it may have been 10% off that. I also have a copy of the UK version which is pretty well the same thing except i am alot more familiar with the format in the US version book. THe UK version was the only thing that was available a few years ago. If anyone is interested in buying the UK version, shoot me an email. Ken

I got mine on ebay and have referred to it many times. occasionally I will try other sources (bay13, etc) and kind of use all sources together for a total picture. I definitely feel I got my money's worth from the Haynes manual.

i bought mine at the local Canadian Tire, but most other car stores don't have volvo 850 manuals in stock. how about amazon.com?

the electrical diagrams are very good in the haynes manual, but some of the mechanical procedures are lacking. i've heard the Chilton's manual has better step by step descriptions, but i haven't seen one myself.

Thanks...Is the 850 code book worth getting? It's also by Haynes. Thanks again.. I may try the Chiltons.. but not sure.. Does the Haynes have good vacuum diagrams? Thanks...

I think you can find the 850 codes posted on the 'Net. I've seen some.
