Bumper Touch UP? V70-XC70 1998

Some miscreant must have backed into me as I discovered a rather large scratch on the top portion of my front bumper. In the shape of a large W (3"x3")it is scratched down to the black material.

Any suggestions for repair? Touch up paint?

Can't rust I guess.

Thanks.

Mark

Mark - If you touch up your bumper cover and the paint comes off in a little while, consider this; prime the scratches with rustoleum, then apply touch up paint. (see my tale below) You could also go to a hobby store and get some paint "barrier", modelers use this as a primer to protect plastic from "hot" automotive paints.

When I first got my '95 teal wagon, I waxed my trim! (It looked pretty good before the wax dried!) I then cleaned the trim and put black again on it and then Armor all. In about three days it looked faded again. I was beside myself.

I decided to paint the bumper covers and trim and asked a good local shop to paint them. The owner told me that regular paint was too "hot" and would look good for a while, then peel off when the solvents softened the trim.

The upstart - I had read several posts discussing painting the roof strips with Rustoleum. Last fall I painted my front and rear bumper covers. The paint survived the winter quite well. My new beige trim never needs cleaning, and looks quite striking

Painted plastic bumpers are not a very sensible design. There are lots of home visit small paint repair type services now which are OK until the next scratch. However can I suggest Volvo accessory - Bumper corner guard (number 9481 120) front pair cost £15.82. Should cover existing scratch and protect from further damage. They are easy to fit and look quite good.

Know anywhere were there is a picture of these so I can see what they look like? I'm intrigued by the idea...
