Ignition Wires 850

I was cleaning up my baby and tinkering around yesterday and noticed a popping sorta noise. I recognize it as the wires going bad... primarily the coil wire. Oh well... they're probably factory originals. The most I've paid for a set was my '96 Grand Cherokee V8 @ $60. I've looked around and wires seem to be VERY expensive for this car ($100+) for some reason. Is this right?

I'm wondering what everyone's paid, where you got them from and what brand.

Thanks in advance

Just bought a set of OEM ignition wires from beechmont volvo ( 1 800 255-3601 ask for Mark ) list 74.70 paid 59.76 + they shipped for free. No coil wire with set. If you've had a set of ignition wires for that long suspect they need replacing

hey,

Do not worry about your ignition coil making popping noise, or even if you see blue electricity arcing around it at night. This is normal, according to my volvo dealer tech. He said there is so much voltage there that the air around it actually gets ionized, causing the arcing and popping. Your coil is probably fine.

200k, nice.

Wires are pricey, but the coil wire is available separately.

As someone else mentioned, the 850/*70 coil seems to make a lot of noise anyway. It sounds a lot like wires.

An earlier post here indicated the wire from the coil to the distributer
was not part of the ingnition set. You might look into that -- maybe
you can just purchase the coil wire. In any case, make sure you will
get the coil wire if that is what you need.

By the way, I have an 850 and S70 and the coil is vbery loud on both
(I can hear the coil, at idle, with the hood closed on my S70).
