Did 850's come with a fullsize spare?

I think I remembered seeing one in the spare wheel well before I bought mine, but now it's gone... Was I seeing things?

On "SVC70s" at least, it was a factory option on euro delivery US cars. A 205/55 or 50 will fit (I added one) but you lose the underfloor compartment and I also doubt the 3rd seat will still fit.

What is the underfloor compartment? Is that something specific to wagons? I'm assuming you are talking about wagons when you mention a third seat. Is there room for a full sized spare in an 850 sedan in the dedicated spare tire space?

Specifically wagon. Yes, there is a shallow underfloor compartment above the space saver and below the cargo floor. I never checked on the availability of a full-size spare for the sedan for Euro Delivery. The well is HUGE compared with the size of the doughnut spare, however.

One way to find out .... a tape measure!

I'd be inclined to search out a matching wheel from one of the Volvo recyclers like Erie Volvo, rather than a replica. Or a new steel wheel.

I don't know if a full size wheel and tire will fit in the sedan or wagon, I will be trying both this week...

However, I purchased the steel wheels for my 1995 850 from a tire dealer who got them from a supplier of his. These wheels look just like Volvo's steel wheels except they have half as many holes and longer welds holding them together.

I am relatively certain that this supplier can get me a narrower version of the same wheel.

Would you consider a narrower 15" tire and wheel to be full size? I would.

No. They come with a temporary donut spare.
