Will 215/45/17 rub on a 96 850 turbo? How much if so? 850

Will 215/45/17 rub on a 96 850 turbo? How much if so? If anyone has had this problem and could give me a little info on how much the rub that would be great. also i am going to lower my car and i was wondering if the lower stance would cause more problems with this size tire or less. thanks.

I have a 94 Turbo fitted with 205/50/R16's and they rub badly. I think yours would be the same or worse.

Will 215/45/17 rub on a 96 850 turbo? How much if so? 850 1995

215-45-17 potenza s-02 up front, my front rub a little on the plastic lining in the fender. i have 5 mm spacers on for added caliper clearance, so i'm guess the inside isn't too bad. i'm looking into having the fenders rolled a bit.

I have 205 hr55 16's Firehawks on a stock height 1996 855 and they rub the innner fender liner slightly at the front when turne full lock. 50 series were supposed to have been standard issue, in the 16's. Going to a 17, I beleive 205 45 was the size recommended....I think you will rub, both front and rear with 215's as I only have about 3mm clearance on inner fenders at rear when compressed...

I would take Donstrukes advice and check out Tire Rack's data base on tire specs. A good example would be the Kumhos vs. the Paradas, the 215\45\17 Kumho specs are almost identical to those of the 205\45\17 Parada which would allow you to believe the Kumho will fit ok without rubbing. I'm trying to decide that myself on going from the Paradas to the Kumhos, good luck with your choice.

215/45/17 almost always rubs on stock height Volvos. Some people have had luck with no rubbing, but I'm sure if they actually took a look in their wheel well, they would find some. If you plan on lowering your car, I guaruntee, you will rub. How bad? That depends on how much you are willing to put up with. If you are conscientious, and take care not to turn your wheel anywhere near full lock, you may get away with rubbing only when hitting a bump while cornering. However, I've seen tonnes of horror stories with rubbing that wore through the lining of the fender lip, and even into the metal. Don't forget the inner liner as well. Those have been equally beat up by 215/45/17 on lowered 850s.

Another consideration is that not all tires in a size measure identically in each dimension...a Goodyear 215-40-17 (pick a model) is not necessarily exactly the same as a Michelin 215-40-17 (whatever model). The overall sidewall width and other dimensions can vary a bit due to different tire compounds, sidewall rubstrips, etc. Best way to compare I know of on tirerack.com. Check its comprehensive charts where you'll find all sizes made in each tire model. You'll find contact patch sizes, revs per mile, wear factor, etc., etc.
