Max tire size for 17' rim on S70 T5? S70

I found a set of seven-spoke T5R 17" rims for my S70. They came with 215/40/17 tires, but they just don't look right on the car. When I lined up the old 205/50/16 with the new wheels, there is an inch or so difference in height (17" being smaller).

How large a tire can I run without rubbing? Will a 225/50 or so fit?

    Pat- I would suggest 225/50/17 or 215/45/17s. Either of these will work w/out rubbing. I have an 854 and was told that the S70s have a larger wheel-well, so you can try different sizes. the only caution is the rim size being 7x17. A 7" rim MAY not be able to handle the 225 w/out some bulging; you may have to mount it check it out and go from there. good luck,BD
