Does anyone have any experience with VALVOLINE DURA BLEND motor oil?

Hi,

Valvoline to me has been a good Motor oil. Motor oils I would recommend are Mobil 1 and Castrol. I have used Valvoline and Quaker State in other cars I have owned in the past with excellent results. That is no problems up to 100k miles.

As for the Synthic Blends I would recommend that you buy either a full synthic or just the regular oil. Synthic Blends were created to catch the price market that exists between regular oil (about $2.00 a qt USD) and the Synthic oil (about $5.00 a qt USD). And I do not see any advantage in them except price.

Currently I am using Mobil 1 10w-30 in my Volvo 99XC and Castrol Syntec 10w-40 in my BMW 328i.

Good Luck,

Steven---

I'd have to disagree about there being no advantage to using a blend.

Seems to me you get some (1/2?) of the advantage of a full synthetic...better cold starting...better resistance to heat...than straight dynosaur oil without paying the full price.

Of course a FULL synthetic would be even better.

I use Mobil 1 FULL synthetic in our Volvo, and use Mobil 1 blend in our 1990 Galant with 211,000 miles.

In each car I change the oil every 5,000 miles...easy to remember, and well below the manufacturers recommendation of 7500 miles.

It's worked well for me so far.

Steve, you are probably right. I use the DURA BLEND in my Land Rover, thought perhaps I could use just one oil. Guess I will use the Syn. Thanks!
