Is the check engine light supposed to come on when the key is in the II position? Mine doesn't. So I'm thinking, maybe the previous owner didn't want to change the O2 sensor, and he pulled the fuse for the check engine light. Is there a fuse?

It's a common thing for a seller to remove the bulb to mask expensive problems ....

Check engine light does not have a fuse. That would be too easy. Bet the car had problems and the P/O removed the bulb.

probably not a fuse fur just that circuit.

could the light bulb be burnt out or missing?

get a code reader and see if there are any codes that have commaneded the MIL on.(malfunction indicator light/check engine)

Did you just buy this car?

could the previous owner have known there is a problem and deactivated/disconnected the light in some way? you have to remove the dash to get to the lights, so it is possible that it is just burned out.
