V70 - T5 shop manual / Door lock problem V70-XC70

I have purchased a 2001 V70 / T5 wagon recently and am interested in the possibility of obtaining the manufacturer's shop manual. I've done this in the past with all my other vehicles and have found the expenditure of $100.00 (+) more than worth the price over the life of the vehicle. I suspcet Volvo's to be more expensive though.
I do not like the Chilton's (or other after market type) shop manuals as they seem to always be "too inclusive" of all models and model years. (i.e. they will try to include more than one model year and model type) Whereas I have had considerably better luck purchasing a manufacutrer's shop manual for the specific model and model year. Recently, I asked my Volvo dealer about this and they said that the shop manual is not for sale and is only on CD ROM format (not a printed / bound version like a book) for the dealer to use. Is this true? On a different topic, I also have a problem with the doors spontaneously unlocking. It seems that this only occurs when I use the interior door lock button to lock the doors just prior to exiting the vehicle. Anybody have any suggestions?? Thanks in advance.

    V70 - T5 shop manual / Door lock problem V70-XC70

I use alldatadiy.com at $25 a year. It includes repair procedures,
time to do the repair, part numbers, part cost, service bulletins
    and recall notices.

It does not cover everything; but, I figure anything in there is not
something I can fix without special tools, etc. Actually, it does have
some fairly complex procedures which typically get you to realize this is
not a DIY job (like replacing the clutch or trouble-shooting AC).

Go to www.volvotechinfo.com. The complete manual is available, but not in printed form. Cost is aprox $1700.00 USD. Door locks will unlock after pressing the lock button if the key is still in the ignition switch. If this is not the case, possible problem with door module, relay, software glitch, or unlock button on remote sticking. There is a recall for faulty remotes.

$1700.00 FOR CD SHOP MANUAL ? 'VOLVO' is latin for GREED ! V70-XC70

I would suspect that chilton or haynes will purchase access (via the computer) to the Volvo shop manual and then publish a hardbound version of their own. because I know one thing...ain't no why in hell I'm paying $1700.00 to access a shop manual online ! the word "Volvo" is latin for GREED ! PURE AND SIMPLE. THEY JUST WANT TO FORCE SHADETREE MECHANICS LIKE MYSELF TO GO TO THE VOLVO DEALERSHIP. BECAUSE WE DON'T HAVE A SHOP MANUAL !

Can you purchase just the books you need? I've seen the manual list
for my 98 and you can just pick the ones you need (electrical, engine,
ECU, transmission, etc.) I suspect the 02 manuals are not available in
          hardcopy, though.

          SHOP MANUAL 2002 V70-XC70

I would agree that a shop manual to any auto or equipment that I own is worth the price, but at 5% of MSRP of the auto is a bit steep. The online manual WISP is only the begining of your expenses of servicing your auto through Volvo online services, you must also consider a comunication tool VCT2000 ( $1500), other misc subscriptions, renewal fees of $100/yr and a computor with Windows NT. Check Alldata.com. Find the Alldatadiy entry. The fee is $25, renewal and add-ons @ $15. This is for owner/enthusiast. The info through this site will help cosiderably. Hopefully there will be other sources to help us along.
