Canadian ECU upgrade. C70

I heard that if you take your Volvo to a Canadian Volvo Dealer, that they can reprogram the ECU for more hp and better performance. This does not involve a chip, but reprograming the ECU since they don't have to adhere to U.S. standards. Has anyone heard about this?

I've never seen this reported before. They would have to use programming
from Volvo. There is a TSB for 98 high pressure turbos for a
reprogramming along these lines that could be the basis of this.
TSB is 2220003:

An engine control module (ECM) software upgrade is available to enhance overall engine speed performance. This will smoothen the occasional variation in engine speed which may be experienced on some vehicles.

Butchman,
I have not heard anything and I keep close contact with a number of dealerships regularly including Volvo Canada. Why not just phone a dealership and ask them.
