I think there is strong suspicion that the C70 is on borrowed time, to be replaced (according to rumor) by a C50. But who knows? When that happens, I'll buy a low mileage C70 as a collector item and baby it.

True. C70 Coupes are over when MY2002 is over. The Cabriolet has one more MY (2003) of life and that is it. C40 to follow soon.

Coupe & convert, why did they die? C70

For some reason the C70 was never marketed verymuch, and it was overpriced at launch. I think Volvo should not be surprised that demand therefore was not very heavby. Plus, they were a high performance cruiser, not a handler. ANd the convertible had problems at launch and a jiggly ride and both models suffered from torque steer under hard throttle. Basically a car that did not know what it was. Too bad, because it was a lovely fast cruiser, our 01 got bought back as a lemon law car but it was one comfortable, sweet handling and economical (an honest 30 mpg) mid to full size car. I never understood why Volvo botched the pricing and marketing of the car.

well, I'm glad they won't be made anymore, never wanted a car that I would see at every stoplight anyway, thus the reason for the purchase. Maybe now, there will actually be some resale value, unlike the Z-3, Mercedes, and Boxster.

That's why they're owned by Ford. C70

Volvo still doesn't know what they're selling. And wait until your 'volvo' is a Mazda designed in Dearborn.

My Volvo ain't gonna be a Mazda designed by Dearborne... I'm not buying one after this one- the last "real Volvo" and I doubt if any true Volvo fan will either. What a shame, but we all know the Mazda with the arrow pointing skyward on the grille is on the way.
