Door locking/unlocking glitch V70-XC70 2001

Until recently, the doors locked properly (push remote's "lock" button once...all doors lock). Now what's happening, sporadically, is all the doors EXCEPT the driver's door lock. Sometimes I have to push the "lock" button 2 or more times before the driver door locks. And yesterday, when I went to UNLOCK the car, I had to push "unlock" at least twice, before the driver door opened; and then pushed "unlock" again to unlock the other doors. Keep in mind, I'm no further than 5 - 10 feet away from the car during this procedure. What do you experts think the problem may be ? The car is scheduled for it's first 7500 mile service on Friday. Thanks for your input.

Sam

Door locking/unlocking glitch V70-XC70 2001

I'm not sure if this is what is happening to you, but there is a problem with the remotes on some 2001 XC's. The plastic actuators for the buttons were getting jammed without appearing to be. A button would get stuck "on" intermittently and when you would press another button, the remote would send out a confusing message.

I believe there is a "quiet" recall on these remotes (i.e., they tell you about it only if you complain or bring the car in for some other service). My dealer fixed the one I brought with me and gave em the parts to fix the second one that I had left at home.

All you do is open the case and replace the plastic button caps. Prior to doing this, I had all kinds of intermittent problems with the remotes--the doors wouldn't lock or unlock properly or the "safe" lighting wouldn't come on until I pushed the button several times and sometimes pressing the unlock button would set the alarm off!

I haven't had any problems since I had the remotes updated.

Check with your dealer.

Campaign 108 done? V70-XC70 2001

If not already done, service campaign 108 should solve the problem. Both remotes get new parts.
