Turbo mod question V70-XC70 2001

I have read many post about shortening the turbo linkage rod on 850/V70's and even found great instructions on how to do it. My question is, does this work on a low pressure turbo as well. I own a V70, 2.4T, 2001 low pressure turbo and would like to perform this mod. Is a good starting point still three full turns in. Will this improve that slow throttle response and finally does anyone know what exactly is the main difference between a low and high pressure turbo.

Thanks,
Norm

try a g-valve + vdo boost guage. that will give you what you're looking for. dan, (about 3 posts up) installed one on his lpt and he loves it.
    regards

    Don't bother V70-XC70 2001

Your ECU will detect it and compensate immediately. You may initially feel a bit of low end rush, but it's illusory. Any such effect is over so fast as to make it meaningless. Turn it too far, and your engine shuts off.

(Good discussion about this at TME's website. Click the "QUESTIONS" link at http://www.tme.com/eng_index1.htm)

    Turbo mod question V70-XC70 2001

The difference between a low pressure and high pressure turbo is that the low pressure one is smaller so that it spools up quicker to provide better low end response. The high pressure turbo is larger, takes longer to spool, but provides better top end performance. I don't know if adjusting the wastegate actuator rod will have the same effect on a LPT but imagine it would, to a perhaps a lesser extent than with a HPT. In any event, if your car is still under warranty I would be very careful with any adjustments.
