Does anyone know where I can get a service/repair manual for a 1998 S70 T5?

A few members have already mentioned the UK-spec Haynes manual. I have it, and I find it to be worthwhile to have. A better resource, however, for our US-spec 70-series vehicles seems to be All-Data-DIY (http://www.alldatadiy.com/). I’m using this for diagnostics and service procedures for my ’99 S70 T5M, and it’s proven to be invaluable. Includes OBDII trouble code descriptions and related service procedures, as well as recall and technical service bulletin information that is usually only provided to the dealer. The diagrams and text in the service procedures appear to be lifted right out of Volvo sources. Having both seems to be a very powerful combination. How compatable is the UK version to a USA Volvo?

As far as the tech info, it seems right on. Different terminology though:

spanner = wrench
renew = replace
prise = pry
dipped beam = low beam
recover = take out and hang on to
gaiter = boot (ie cv boot)
silencer = muffler
bulkhead = firewall
slacken = loosen
earth = ground
wing = fender (I think - saw it briefly and can't find it now)

Biggest concern for me is going to be bolt torque settings. They're all in newton-meters instead of foot-pounds. They do have a table of conversion factors.

Worth it, since they don't print a US manual yet.

boot=trunk
bonnet=hood
tickover=idle

My uncle who is an MG guy helped me define the last one!

And for you C70 folk, a convertible top is apparently a "hood"

Terminology is likely to be the biggest difference (divided as we are by a common language). it's an English publisher, and all my other Haynes manuals (240, 740/940 and Audi) feature pictures of English cars, though they are US editions.

US versions of Haynes manuals will have US English and make descriptions in US terms where right hand vs left hand drive is an issue.
