Want to fit cheap tyres - are they ok 850

Hi all,

Its time to change the front tyres and im thinking of getting economy ones as im a poor student. They are half the price of pirelli pzero's. Im assuming that the cheap tyres will last more than half the mileage than that of the pzero's. I dont drive my car hard so i dont feel i need performance tyres.

any one think they know the best tyre??? or any thoughts on my dilemma.

P.s - I can get pzero's for £100 and eco tyres for £55.

Anyone know where in the uk is cheap for tyres.

I HAVE A 1995 850 T5 WITH THE FAN ALLOYS.(205/55 R16) i think.

Cheap tires will probably last longer then performance tires. Performance
tires use softer "rubber" compounds. Softer compounds stick to the road
better but don't last as long.

A great value of a tire is the Kumho Ecsta Supra 721. I'm in the USA and can get them from www.tirerack.com for $72 each. This is about 50 UK pounds. They are Z rated and have good grip in the corners and a smoother ride than the stock 850 Michelins. The turn in response is not quite as good though. I highly recommend these tires for an 850.

I owned 2 sets of those Khumo's and I changed to Falken. Khumos do not wear well and on channeled roads pull one side or the other hard. The new tires hold solid.

Define cheap (econ) tires? Just because they are half price doesn't mean they are of poor quality. Maybe Pirelli's are overpriced? If they are good tires at a exceptionally good price, why not get them?
