Reference my question the other day concerning being able to confirm(or otherwise) your mileage on the odometer, I found the answer. According to my local Volvo dealer - who contrary to what I've heard about most dealerships on this forum - was very helpful,from the 850's onward your mileage can be verified by downloading the information from the computer. Did this with a nice "new" 1996 850 turbo wagon I just bought.

    The computer can actually verifiy the true mileage of your car???Cool..I bought a 95 850TW this past spring right when the odometer broke. Will this work for my car?? What exactly do I ask the dealer for?

    Maybe I'll sleep better...maybe I won't.

      I was told this as well. My odometer is not functioning either. So I took my 95 turbo to the dealer and they said that they can determine the mileage on 96 vehicles and later. So for those of us who are 95 and earlier, we're out of luck.
