Would it be possible to install a CD/cassette combo premium system from an '00 S70 T5 into my '93 850, effectively replacing the regular unit in that car?

if they are the same size I would think it should work. All I know is the radios on the 97 850s are very easy to remove and install. Push in on the recessed vertical " rectangles" on the face plate of the radio and they will pop out giving you little handles to pull the unit out. The rest is just a matter of unhooking the wire harness.

Just did that exact swap, works great (SC-816 into a '93 850)
