I was just cleaning my flame arrestor and throttle body with can of carb cleaner and the little straw on the can shot off into the manifold(?). I fished for it for bout an hour with no luck. Can someone enlighten me on what is going to happen to that straw when I start the car?

BTW, the flame arrestor and one of the vaccum hoses connected to it is in very poor condition and I'm replacing them asap.

I'm going to differ a little from conventional wisdom. The only adverse effect the straw is likely to have is to leave a plastic deposit on an intake valve seat if it gets caught halfway through. I suspect it would burn away in short order without having any permanent effect.

You do not want that straw in there. Try using a vacuum cleaner with a hose on it to suck it out.

For the love of goodness don't start the car with the straw in there. It would be VERY bad. Good luck getting it out though =/

Thanks for everybody's response and apparently I don't have enough luck to retrieve the straw...The car runs great but it does have a fast idle, now. I guess its still chewin on the straw. Does anybody know how difflicult it would be to remove the manifold?

Thanks again, I'm going to be a little more careful next time.

You started the car with the straw in it????

I don't think you're gonna have to worry about removing the intake manifold to get it out now....BTW it shouldn't be too difficult if you work on cars lots, but as you can see removing it is not easier than gettting to it...it would probably be a half day task if you didn't do anyting wrong.
