VDO (avaliable at eguages or sumit racing, etc) is the OEM cluster manufacturer, and thus would probably make the closest matching guage. Also, autometer makes good guages (that's what I have) but I'm not on an A-pillar mount. You could probably save a little cash if you only order an A-pillar mount from IPD and get the boost guage elsewere. However, I know they have this item on backorder.

I looked on the egauges on the internet, and was wondering which boost gauge is the right one? the one that has HG and PSI in it ir the one with just PSI, also what tubing kit and mounting kit would I need to have for this gauge. thanks for all the info

Here's what many of us use 850

VDO Vision series, http://www.egauges.com/vdo_bld.asp?Series=Vision You want the In.HG/PSI gauge because the Volvo implementation measures intake manifold pressure, which will show vacuum (In. HG) as well as boost (PSI). It's product number 150-121. I think I also got 6' of tubing, but I didn't use the A-pillar; I put mine in the ashtray bay near the shifter.

VDO provided the intrumentation for our Volvos, and a lot of other cars, too.

thanks for the info, so I would not need to get any thing other than the gauge, hose and a A-piller mount, that will be what I need to fully install the gauge? also how long did it take to install it?
thanks again fro all the info

Here's what many of us use 850

You'll need a few odds and ends:

            a little 18ga or 22ga wire
            a couple wiring 'taps'
[ these are to get power to the backlight ]

a vacuum cap (about $2/half doz. at auto zone)
a little bit of neoprene tubing (goes over vacuum nipple, stuffs inside vac. cap)
[these are to make attachment at vacuum tree)

            wire ties

Long handled needlenose with the bent tips was very useful in getting the tubing through the firewall. To do this, I had to move the fusebox out of the way, then with a finish nail jammed in one end of the tube (to make a stiff push-through probe, I also taped it on with electrical tape), and using the bent-nose pliers, I wormed the tubing in along the bottom of the the main wiring harness - using the same hole. Then inside the car, I finished pulling it through. It will come out near the brake pedal. Cut off the end with the nail.

To match OEM instrument lighting, I cut the fingertip off a green throw-away vinyl painter's glove (like you get at Home Depot) and slipped it over the light bulb, held in place with a rubber band.

I don't know anything about the A-pillar mount as I put my meter in a different location. Other brickboarders will have plenty of advice on the subject. You could also try doing a search on terms like 'A-pillar' and 'VDO boost gauge.'

Good luck, it should take 1-2 hours.
