seat heater problems 850

Now, that the weather has turned colder, I don't have to worry about my A/C. But the driver's side seat heater does not work. Passenger side works well. I checked both switches, but they seem to be OK. Would it be the thermostat that is the problem? Just wondering how many others have solved the problem. thanks

    VinceA,
Three different problems can be the cause. The easiest is the heater has simply come unplugged. The second cause is a failed thermostat that is accessable by powering the seat to it's highest postion, reaching underneath and finding a hole in the centre of the seat cushion. The thermostat can be pulled out and checked. The third fault and most expensive is a failed heating element. The seat is removed, leather removed and new element installed.

Thanks, Tony, i'll check more carefully tonight. I did notice the 2 red wires going to the thermostat. Other threads mentioned, maybe, a broken wire. I could see that heating element is worse.
