how to read codes on a 95 850...link please 850

Is there a link somewhere on this board that shows how to read the fault codes from a 95 850. I have the haynes manual and tried to read the codes but got lost on the way. I need a better guide on how to read the Blinking ligts. If someone has link or an explaination.

mike,

I was able to get the code out with your help and the haynes manual..

The code that I got was 4-1-4.

According to the Haynes manual - "Driver side interior temperature sensor inlet fan seized"

Anyone know where is this part and how to get access to it ?

I replaced one in a '94 850 on the passenger side before. It started making some noise so I just replaced it. The part isn't too much ($50 or less)and I purchased it from Swedish Engineering. I would just replace it and be done with it. The procedure is fairly straightforward.

-Just remove the grab handle by removing two screws on either end covered up by plastic hinges.

-Remove plastic cover for sensor/fan.

-Remove plastic molding on A pillar.

-I think you'll need a small 10mm combination wrench to get the fasteners off the sensor and some patience as the space is tight.

Good luck.

The driver's side interior temp sensor is in the headliner just above the driver's head and to the left, you should see a plastic piece with two rectangular holes in it, and behind that plastic piece is the sensor. You might try using a vacuum on it and see if that pulls any kind of little obstruction out of the fan before you go yanking the headliner. Clean out the hole with the vacuum and clear the codes and see if they come back. Good luck ...... Mike

Agree! The most common cause of fan failure is hair or lint gumming up the works. The fan motor is extremely weak and almost anything will stop it.
