Test drove an XC90 yesterday, very nice......... XC90

The darn thing handles the emergancy manuvers better than my auto-x prepped 911.
Is it time to trade in the S70 T5?? :)

Did you go to the XC90 driving experience? I went last Sunday and had a blast! I drove the T-6 on the performance track. It accelerated smoothly and quickly, but pulled to the right just a bit.

I drove the 2.9T on the off-road course. It handles great on wet pavement and on dirt roads. It corners like it's on rails. I also got yelled at for going too fast, but oh well, just kept on drivin'!

A professional driver took us on the ROPS course. He got it up to 60-mph and without braking, steered hard over to the right to avoid an obstacle. You could feel the ROPS engage the brakes to correct the oversteer and prevent a rollover. Then he stood on the gas and got it up to 60-mph and attempted to flip the car. The throttle disengaged automatically and the brakes took over to correct the over-steer. Once the car was level again, the throttle kicked back in and the car accelerated.

That car is sooooo awesome. I was tempted to just drive through the fence and take off with it!

Test drove an XC90 yesterday, very nice... but what about off-road XC90

What did the off-road course consist of? Does this car have a hill-descent mode to compensate for lack of a low-range? Is the spare full-sized for when a flat occurs in the outback?

Did they have the 5 cylinder FWD version available for driving?
I'm wondering about the performance. (I doubt they did since I
read it is expected early 2003). Just curious.

I had the same thought about our 850 wagon.

      Ray,

the XC90 2.5T drives very well. It has ample acceleration and there is very little difference (in the way it feels) in that department from the T6 model. I drove a 2.5T AFTER I drove the T6 (which should have made the 2.5T feel even slwoer) and I was amazed.

Thanks Yannis. You got my curiosity peaked. Gonna have to test drive
one when they make it over here.

what is sad is that all of these test vehicles will be destroyed :(
