ok this happened to me once last year and today it happened twice. started car let it warm went down road will not shift. pulled over turned car off took it out of sport mode, started it back up everythings fine. humm strange. did it again this afternoon in econo mode, turned engine off after its warm started back up again everything fine. what is that ? any ideas and fixes? the weather has just started to get colder here in nj, and the last time it happened it was cold too. thanks kelly

Sounds like a PNP switch problem. What you probably experienced was the "Limp home" mode where your transmission starts and stays on 3rd gear.

This usually occurs in cold weather. You can read more about it in Bay 13 www.volvospeed.com

Any lights illuminated on the dash? The orange up arrow light will flash
if the transmission detects an error. The transmission then locks into
3rd gear (limp home mode). I think reverse works, too, in this case.

Also, winter mode will lock it to 3rd. This causes the orange arrow to
just stay on (no flashing)

no arrow light on, and my check engine light is burned out. will check volvospeed. thanks
