Where to shop for muffler and tail pipe? 850

Hi,

I have an exhaust leak and my muffler and t-pipe needs to be replaced. I've seen something listed as "With resonator" & "Without resonator" What is it? Do I need one with a resonator. My brick is a 95 850 without turbo. Need some suggestion where to shop for the best price and part. Please reply if you had similar experience. Thanks in advance.

    I noticed that you have a non-turbo car. A reduced backflow system will not buy you as much performance increase as a turbo car, so probably it is best to stay somewhere around stock.

    Any aftermarket facility will quote you a great price for a lifetime system. Try several in your area and compare results. I'm betting that the leak is after the resonator and most likely in or near the muffler, so the actual cost for a replacement should be $100.00 or less. I had two mufflers and a resonator with all the pipes installed for around $200.00 at a muffler shop in Sandy Eggo.

    I HAD A CUSTOM EXHAUST INSTALLED AT A LOCAL MUFFLER SHOP WITH A MAGNAFLOW STRAIGHT THRU ALUMINIZED MUFFLER W/ LIFETIME WARRENTY RELOCATED TO BEHIND THE REAR WHEEL (NO RUMBLE UNDER THE PASS COMPARTMENT) WITH A CHROME TIP AND 2 1/2 PIPE FROM CAT BACK USING ORIGINAL HANGERS AND CAT CONNECTION. INSTALLED FOR UNDER 300.00

    THE RESONATOR WILL ONLY MELLOW OUT THE SOUND BUT THE TURBO KILLS MOST OF THE SOUND ANYWAY SO I VIEW THE RESONATOR AS JUST ANOTHER RESTRICTION.

    CHECK OUT A LOCAL SHOP THAT DOES PERF EXHAUST WORK AND SAVE YOUR MONEY.

      Dan,

      The problem is I live in Pennsylvania and they say it is illegal to patch a perforated exhaust in PA. I have to change the whole thing :(.

      I have a 1995 Volvo 850 turbo and am considering either IPD or Supersprint.

      However, I am open to less costly alternatives.

      Is your system loud or just mellow ( i.e. is my wife going to kill me after driving the car?).

      Appreciate it if you'd post the shop that did your work and a contact name. Also, I presume you are happy with the work?
