Dumb question on winter tires 850

1. Do I need to torque the winter wheels to the same spec, i.e., 81 ft-lb?
2. My summer tires are 205/55/16. Does it matter whether I get 195/60/15 (tirerack recommends) or 195/65/15 (dealer recommends)? Any experience with either size for winter driving? Both are within 3%.

Believe the Volvo 850-70 owner's manual recommends 185/65/15. Look under 'tires'. Narrow=good in the snow. nmi 850

Yes, saw that, but considering keeping it 195, as the dealer recommends. nmi 850

Based on prior experiences, I'd take Volvo's advice before my own dealer. 850

Think it all depends on your driving conditions. 195 ought to be (marginally) better in the dry, 185 better in the snow.

I have a set of 185/65/15s with studs, the wear bars are starting to show on the sipes, (IF those are actually wear bars!) and I'm trying to decide what to do. I have 8/32 tread left, vs the 10/32 advertised for a "new" Michelin Artic Alpin. Maybe I'll just use 'em and see how they behave.

        Not much information out there.

Any info about evaluating wear characteristics of snow tires appreciated!

My "summer" tires are 205/55/16 and they are M&S rated Dunlop SP5000s.

Michelin also makes a M&S rated Pilot in the same size. It costs more than the Dunlop.
