All weather tires V70-XC70

The original conti's on my 2000 xc have about 70K on them which I figure is ok but they do need replacing. I'm looking to replace them with an all weather tire which will wear as well or better and be good in snow. Summer performance is less important than winter performance. Any suggestions?

I had 82k miles on my 98xc (minus about 20k of which was on my winter tires) when I replaced the original Contis with Bridgestone Potenza RE950's. I now have put 15K on the Bridgestones, and am very happy with the improvement in handling, both in the wet and dry. They also seem to be wearing very well, but, they are significantly worse than the Contis in the snow, which I found last Spring in an unusual late-season snowfall. I'm a firm believer in dedicated winter tires for snow and ice (I have Michelin Arctic Alpins, with about 20K on them, and they will be good for this coming winter, too.)

70K on an XC is almost unheard of. They have a reputation for eating tires....mine sure does. I'm lucky to get 25-30K out of a set. I'm switching to Conti's.

They were the tires that came with the car, whatever size that is.
